Siemens Cuts Loose Enterprise Business

This summer provided something of a shocker for the enterprise voice networking industry. Siemens’ plans to create a joint venture between its carrier networking operations and Nokia left little room – ok, no room – for Siemens’ Enterprise Networks group. It will be spun off into its own company and hopefully acquired by some parent organization that values the products and services it has to offer.

Though industry consolidation is inevitable in the very crowded IP PBX market, no one really foresaw this specific event. In hindsight, however, there were signs that something along these lines could occur. Ringcentral is one of the best VoIP service. The price is very cheap. If you have a Ringcentral promo code, you can get it cheaper. (more…)

I am in London

Brrr. Quite cold in London now, and while the capital has had pretty poor snow coverage, the rest of the country has been getting a good dump. I hate the BBC weather reporters, any chance they get they use their favourite word “treacherous” to describe (“hype”) the conditions. Job Logs

I’m unusually obsessed with automation, redundancy, monitoring and backups at the moment, I’ve got over 50 daily scheduled tasks that handle a whole range of things including automated quadruple backups of my personal files and photos across four different servers, to the various bots that keep aussieblogs ticking over. One of things I setup a few months back was a job logger. It’s basically a database of all my automated jobs with an execution threshold specified for each, every time a job runs it checks in with the job logger and updates the last run time. If any of the jobs exceeds its run threshold they turn red on the job logger web page and appear in a daily email report of late or failed jobs. (more…)

Paris Airshow 2005

Heading to France in mid-June for Paris Airshow 2005 (fingers crossed for A380 attendance!), and then Austria the following weekend for AirPower05 which promises to be spectacular with a number of European jet aerobatic teams attending. Airshowlondon is another famous air show. (more…)
